CHRISTMAS WISH LIST

Christmas is just around the corner, just a few days away. I noticed that the older I get, the more difficult it is for me to find things to ask. Because you can't just ask anything. You don't want people to spend a lot of money for you, because then you kinda have to spend about the same amount. I do have some items that are a bit more expensive, but I did mention that if they think it costs too much, more people could budge in to buy it. Without further ado, this is my Christmas wish-list! Kerstmis bevindt zich net om de hoek, nog maar een paar dagen te gaan. Ik heb gemerkt dat hoe ouder ik word, hoe moeilijker ik het find om iets te vinden dat ik kan vragen. Je kan niet zomaar alles vragen. Je wilt niet dat mensen te veel geld aan je uitgeven, want dan moet je voor hen ongeveer hetzelfde bedrag uitgeven. Ik heb wat items die iets duurder zijn, maar ik heb wel gezegd dat als ze vinden dat het te veel kost, meerdere personen samen kunnen leggen. Dit is, zonder meer, mijn Kerstlijst!

PRESS DAYS⎪CACHEMIRE COTON SOIE

The last week of November, Cachemire Coton Soie organised the beauty days. This was the perfect opportunity to meet make-up artist Isabelle Bertrand and discover the beauty brand Delbôve. And I must say, I was quite pleased by both.

First, I want to start by saying that Isabelle Bertrand is a lovely woman. She was so nice! And honest too, that day I randomly grabbed a lipstick without looking and one of the first things she said when she started was that it didn't suit me. As I'm a ubernoob concerning make-up, I didn't take it badly and listened to what she recommended for me.
She always works with Yves Saint Laurent because she likes their products and says they have everything she needs. Not everything I did was bad, she said I don't really need foundation because I have a nice and hydrated skin - do I hear a whoop! - but she did show me one. It took her a while though to find the right color, as I'm very very pale.The foundation was the BD20 from Fusion Ink Foundation, a touch of Kiss and Blush number 3, some fuchsia lipstick and my daily make-up look was done. I have to admit, it wasn't a lot of extra work, but gave my pale face that little spark it needs to look less flat. Maybe, just maybe, I should do a bit more in the morning.
Isabelle also gave some tips and tricks: before applying your lipstick, you can color your entire lip with the pencil, this way the lipstick will stick better and stay longer; she also told us to use a cotton swab to slightly fade the lipstickline, it will make the transition from lip to skin less hard.

After the short make-up lesson, we made the acquaintance of this brand called Delbôve. Founded in 1965, Delbôve uses a maximum of natural and organic ingredients. Each product has a long list of ingredients that help the skin stay pretty and hydrated.
What I like about the brand, is that it remained faithful to its original purpose: help the skin revive. Also, they kept the pharmaceutical look, which I find pretty cool. There's a real review coming soon, so stay tuned!
Tijdens de laatste week van november organiseerde Cachemire Coton Soie de beauty days. Dit was de perfecte aangelegenheid om make-up artieste Isabelle Bertrand te ontmoeten en het schoonheidsmerk Delbôve te leren kennen. En ik moet zeggen, ik was tevreden over beiden.

Ik wil beginnen door te zeggen dat Isabelle Bertrand een super leuke vrouw is. Ze was zo vriendelijk! En eerlijk ook, ik had die dag een random lippenstift meegenomen zonder te kijken en een van de eerste dingen die ze zei toen ze begon was dat hij mij niet stond. Aangezien ik een supernoob ben als het gaat over make-up, heb ik het helemaal niet slecht opgenomen en geluisterd naar wat zij aanraadde voor mij.
Ze werkt altijd met Yves Saint Laurent omdat ze graag met de producten werkt en vindt dat ze alles hebben dat ze nodig heeft. Niet alles dat ik gedaan had was slecht, ze zei dat ik niet echt foundation nodig had omdat ik een mooie en gehydrateerde huid heb - hoor ik daar een whoop! - maar ze heeft mij wel eentje getoond. Het duurde wel even voor ze de juiste kleur gevonden had, aangezien ik heel heel bleek ben. De foundation was de BD20 van Fusion Ink Foundation, een vleugje Kiss and Blush number 3, wat fuchsia lippenstift en mijn dagelijkse make-up look was klaar. Ik moet toegeven dat het niet veel extra werk was, maar dat het mijn bleke gezicht toch die kleine vonk gaf zodat het er minder dof uitzag. Misschien, heel misschien, moet ik 's ochtends wat meer moeite gaan doen.
Isabelle gaf ook wat extra tips en tricks: voor je je lippenstift opdoet, kleur je je hele lip in met je lippotlood, zo blijft de lippenstift beter op je lippen vasthouden en langer blijven; ze vertelde ons ook om een wattenstokje je gebruiken om zachtjes de lippenstiftlijn te vervagen, het zal de overgang van lip naar huid minder hard maken.

Na de korte make-up les, maakten we kennis met een merk genaamd Delbôve. Opgericht in 1965, gebruikt Delbôve een maximum aan natuurlijke en organische ingrediënten. Elk product heeft een lange lijst ingrediënten die de huid helpen om mooi en gehydrateerd te blijven. Wat ik zo leuk vind aan dit merk, is dat ze trouw zijn gebleven aan hun originele doel: de huid helpen herleven. Ze hebben ook de farmaceutische look behouden, wat ik wel cool vind. Er komt binnenkort een echte review, dus stay tuned!

OUTFIT⎪KAKI CUT OUT

It's official, the sun is gone. Time to cosy up in knits and layers. But before we do, a little reminder of what sun looks like with this outfit.

I've never been a blouse kinda girl, I always thought it was super fancy and for old people. But now, I'm changing styles, getting out of my comfort zone and dressing a tad less young - because I'm old now. Just kidding, I'm not that old - 22 Springs y'all! -, but as I started working, I did feel it was time to dress a bit more adult like. So less sneakers, more blouses! And this blouse had that little extra that made me love it.
Het is officieel, de zon is weg. Tijd om je te wikkelen in breiwerk en laagjes. Maar voor we dat doen, een kleine herinnering aan hoe de zon er uitziet met deze outfit.

Ik ben nooit het type meisje geweest dat graag blouses draagt, ik vond het altijd te fancy en voor oude mensen. Maar nu ben ik van stijl aan het veranderen, durf ik wat meer uit mijn comfort zone te kruipen en mij wat minder jong te kleden - want ik ben oud nu. Mopje, zo oud ben ik niet - 22 lentes y'all! -, maar toen ik begon te werken, vond ik dat het tijd werd om mij wat volwassener te kleden. Dus minder sneakers, meer blouses! En deze blouse had dat tikkeltje extra waardoor ik er helemaal weg van ben.

Press Days were a little while ago and today I'm showing you what I would love to see hanging in my closet - although I will probably need to make some space before. If you listen very carefully, you can already hear my credit card screaming in agony.
De persdagen waren een tijdje geleden en vandaag laat ik jullie zien wat ik graag in mijn kast zou zien hangen - hoewel ik waarschijnlijk eerst plaats zal moeten maken. Als je heel goed luistert, kun je mijn kredietkaart al horen schreeuwen van de pijn.

ZOELLA BEAUTY

I have been following Zoella for quite a while and really admire her.
So when I heard she was launching her own beauty brand, I had to get my hands on it!

The smell is really amazing, it's fresh, floral and feminine. I am really loving this smell and for me it's a fragrance that can be worn all year round.
Also, take a look at that packaging! The polka dots, the lacey details, it's just so cute.
I also really like using pots instead of tubes for some things. I feel like in tubes a small amount of product always stays stuck, a problem that doesn't occur with pots.

For a first collection, I honestly think this is a real hit.

OPI x GWEN STEFANI

I remember singing my lungs out with Don't Speak from No Doubt and thinking that Gwen Stefani is such an amazing woman. She's not just a singer/songwriter and performer, she also has her own label L.A.M.B. that is amazing. I love her style, the fact that she has kept her private life quite private - did you know she has 3 kids already; Kingston, Zuma and Apollo - and she's just one of those women with a strong image that made herself. Plus, she's pretty as hell!

As the Holiday Season is coming, or according to most of the stores it has already been here since early October, Gwen Stefani and OPI joined forces and created a Holiday Collection.
The collection contains no less than 18 polishes with fancy names as Comet in the Sky, Red Fingers & Mistletoes and Christmas Gone Plaid.
Also, I couldn't not share this with you: the collection has the most luxurious topcoat ever. Don't Speak is the name of this limited edition 18k golden topcoat. I know what I want for Christmas!
Ik weet nog dat ik luidkeels meezong met Don't Speak van No Doubt en dat ik dacht dat Gwen Stefani een geweldige vrouw is. Ze is niet alleen een singer/songrwiter en performer, ze heeft ook haar eigen label L.A.M.B. dat echt fantastisch is. Ik hou van haar stijl, het feit dat ze haar privéleven vrij privé heeft gehouden - wist jij dat ze al 3 kinderen heeft; Kingston, Zuma en Apollo - en ze is gewoon een van die vrouwen met een sterk imago dat zichzelf heeft gemaakt. Plus, she's pretty as hell!

Aangezien het feestseizoen er aan komt, of het er volgens de meeste winkels al is sinds begin oktober, sloegen Gwen Stefani en OPI de handen ineen en ontwierpen een Holiday Collection.
De collectie bestaat uit 18 lakjes met fancy namen als Comet in the Sky, Red Fingers & Mistletoes en Christmas Gone Plaid.
Dit kon ik absoluut niet niet delen met jullie: de collectie heeft de meest luxueuze topcoat ooit. Don't Speak is de naam van deze limited edition 18K gouden topcoat. Ik weet wat ik wil voor Kerstmis!

RECIPE⎪PESTO QUICHE

As you may or may not know, I'm a major foodlover! So I decided to share some recipes with you from time to time - from time to time aka if I don't forget to take pictures.

Quiche is the most easy thing to make. For this pesto quiche you will need:

Preheat your oven at 200°C.
First bake the chicken cubes with some chicken seasoning until they are ready.
Then beat your eggs with the cream. Afterwards you mix the pesto with the beaten eggs and cream with a fork.
Season with salt and pepper.
Unroll your puff pastry into a cake pan. You will need a border of about two to three fingers high, otherwise your filling will overflow. Poke some holes with a fork in the pastry to prevent it from being soggy.
Spread your chicken into the form and then pour the egg-cream-pesto mixture over the chicken.
Put the cake pan in the oven until ready, this will take about 30 to 45 minutes. The quiche is ready when the filling isn't runny anymore and the pastry is golden brown.

 I know this doesn't look so tasty, but it really is. You could have prepared this for Halloween as a 'snot quiche'. Maybe next year? ;)
Zoals jullie weten of niet weten, ben ik een echte foodlover! Dus besloot ik af en toe wat recepten met jullie te delen - af en toe aka als ik geen foto's vergeet te maken.

Quiche is een van de gemakkelijkste dingen die je kan maken. Voor deze pesto quiche heb je nodig:

Warm de oven voor op 200°C.
Bak eerst de kippenblokjes op met wat kippenkruiden tot ze gaar zijn.
Klop de eieren op met de room. Daarna mix je de pesto erdoor met behulp van een vork.
Kruid met peper en zout.
Rol je bladerdeeg uit in een taartvorm. Je hebt een rand nodig van twee tot drie vingers hoor, anders zal je vulling overstromen. Prik wat gaatjes met een vork in het deeg om te voorkomen dat deze nat blijft.
Verspreid je kip in de vorm en giet er dan de ei-room-pesto mix over.
Zet de taartvorm in de oven tot de quiche klaar is, dit zal ongeveer 30 tot 45 minuten duren. De quiche is klaar wanneer de vulling niet meer lopend is en het deeg goudbruin is.

 Ik weet dat dit er niet erg smakelijk uitziet, maar het is het echt wel. Je kan dit ook voor Halloween voorbereiden als 'snot quiche'. Volgend jaar misschien? ;)

OUTFIT⎪SEASON MIX

Fall is to me the most annoying season. Why you ask? Because I have no idea what clothes I need to wear! The mornings are cold, but then the sun rises and around noon it's warm enough to walk around without a jacket. So I decided to mix things up by wearing Spring/Summer dress and shoes with a Fall/Winter cardigan and tights to keep my legs warm.
De herfst is voor mij het meest irritante seizoen. Waarom vraag je? Omdat ik geen idee heb welke kleren ik moet dragen! De ochtenden zijn koud, maar dan komt de zon op en rond de middag is het warm genoeg om zonder jas rond te lopen. Ik besloot dus om wat te mixen door lente-/zomerjurkje en -schoenen te dragen met een herfst/winter cardigan en panty's om mijn benen warm te houden.

REVIEW⎪BIRCHBOX OCTOBER

The box contains five beauty items: Ekos Creamy Hand Balm, Number 4 Lumière d'Hiver Super Comb Prep & Protect, Huygens Lait Corps Verveine d'Huygens, Lollipops Nailpolish and Stainiac hint of tint for cheeks and lips.

NUMBER 4 Lumière d'Hiver Super Comb Prep & Protect is a hairspray that strengthens and repairs your hair and helps untangle knots in your hair. I've used it a few times now and I must say it does work. I'm always kind of sceptic about these sprays but this one convinced me. It doesn't really have a particular smell that stays, so your hair still smells like your shampoo/conditioner. It's also super easy to use, you just spray it evenly over towel dry hair and then continue your usual routine.
HUYGENS Le Lait Corps Verveine d'Huygens is a bodymilk that hydrates your skin. This product also blends into your skin very fast and my skin feels soft and hydrated. The bodymilk smells like lemon or more lemongrass in my opinion. But to be honest the smell is too much for me and I'm going to keep it for when mosquitoseason is back because they like to feed on me and this will hopefully repel them. Shanah on the other hand really loves the smell and is using it all the time.
LOLLIPOPS MAKE-UP Nailpolish Voyage à Paris is a bright red nailpolish. And I must say, I was surprised by how well it covers. Usually a bright red polish needs two or three layers before you can't see your nail anymore. This one though only needed one, but I still used two out of habit and because a second layer is usually a tad prettier. Also, it dries really fast and doesn't chip fast either.
THEBALM COSMETICS Stainiac hint of tint for cheeks and lips is a gel that can be used as lipgloss or as a blush. As a lipgloss, it isn't sticky like a normal gloss, it feels very soft and the color is some redrose. As a blush, it doesn't really work on my skin. The blush doesn't stay on my skin so I can't use it like this. Shanah tried it too and it stays  little better on her skin, but not that much either. So it will just be a lipgloss for me.
NATURA BRASIL Ekos Creamy Hand Balm Castanha is actually the first handcream I've ever used, but it comes in very handy as my fingers are peeling off. So I've been using it very often now and I hope the tube will last a very long time because I love it! It smells good - the box says chestnut and it does softly smell like it, not too much though -, the cream isn't sticky if you rub it in well and it absorbs into your skin very well and fast. You could say this is my favourite item of this month's box.

NUMBER 4 Lumière d'Hiver Super Comb Prep & Protect is een haarspray die je haar steiler maakt en helpt de knopen uit je haar te halen. Ik heb het al een paar keer gebruikt en ik moet zeggen dat het echt werkt. Ik ben altijd nogal sceptisch over deze sprays maar deze heeft me overtuigd. Het heeft niet echt een specifieke geur, dus je haar ruikt nog steeds naar je shampoo/conditioner. Het is ook heel gemakkelijk te gebruiken, je sprayt het gewoon gelijkmatig over handdoek droog haar en dan ga je verder met je gebruikelijke routine.
HUYGENS Le Lait Corps Verveine d'Huygens is een bodymilk die je huid hydrateert. Dit product trekt ook heel snel in je huid en mijn huid voelt zacht en gehydrateerd. De bodymilk ruikt naar citroen of eerder citroengras vind ik. Maar om eerlijk te zijn is de geur te fel voor mij en ga ik het bewaren tot het muggenseizoen er weer is omdat ze zich graag met mij voeden en dit hen hopelijk zal afweren.
THEBALM COSMETICS Stainiac hint of tint for cheeks and lips is een gel die als lipgloss en als blush gebruikt kan worden. Als lipgloss is het niet plakkerig zoals een gewone gloss, het voelt zacht aan en de kleur is roodroos. Als blush werkte het niet echt op mijn huid. De blush bleef niet zichtbaar dus ik ken hem op deze manier niet gebruiken. Shanah heeft het ook getest en bij haar blijft het iets beter zichtbaar, maar ook niet veel. Het zal dus gewoon lipgloss zijn voor mij.
LOLLIPOPS MAKE-UP Nailpolish Voyage à Paris is een felrode nagellak. En ik moet zeggen, ik was verbaasd over hoe goed hij dekt. Normaal gezien heeft een felrode lak twee of drie lagen nodig voor je je nagel niet meer ziet. Deze heeft echter maar één nodig, maar ik heb toch twee lage gebruikt uit gewoonte en omdat een tweede laag meestal toch iets mooier is. Daarbij droogt deze lak heel snel en chipt hij ook niet snel.
NATURA BRASIL Ekos Creamy Hand Balm is eigenlijk de eerste handcrème die ik ooit gebruik, maar hij komt nu goed uit aangezien mijn vingers vervellen. Dus ik gebruik het nu heel vaak en ik hoop dat de tube lang meegaat want ik ben er gek op! Het ruikt goed - de doos zegt kastanje en het er ruikt inderdaad lichtjes naar, maar niet te fel -, de crème plakt niet als je hem goed inwrijft en hij trekt heel goed en snel in je huid. Je zou kunnen zeggen dat dit item mijn favoriet is uit de doos van deze maand.

LAUNCH⎪GEHAKT BY WIM BALLIEU

This weekend began with a blast at the Balls & Glory in Antwerp. Wim Ballieu organised a fun workshop to launch his new book GEHAKT.

He and his team chose five fun recipes from the book and we could recreate them in his own restaurant for the reception an hour later.
 So all hens on deck, we started working on the peas and minced lamb meat samosa style. We didn't quite follow the recipe as in the book, but more on how Wim told us how to do it as we had to work fast.
After our cooking workshop, we tasted the different snacks and Shanah fangirled about Wim a little more before we had to leave.
Ons weekend begon met een knal in de Balls & Glory in Antwerpen. Wim Ballieu organiseerde een leuke workshop om zijn nieuw boek GEHAKT te lanceren.

Hij en zijn team kozen vijf leuke recepten uit het boek en wij konden deze dan namaken in zijn eigen restaurant voor de receptie een uur later.
Dus alle hens aan dek, we begonnen te werken aan de erwten en lamsgehakt samosa style. We volgden niet helemaal het recept zoals in het boek staat, maar eerder hoe Wim ons vertelde dat we moesten werken omdat we snel moesten zijn.
Na onze kookworkshop proefden we van de verschillende hapjes en Shanah fangirlde nog even over Wim voor we moesten vertrekken.

NOOSA PETITE RING

NOOSA-Amsterdam is known for its bracelets with changeable chunks. Pretty fun, right? The  accessory brand recently made an upgrade: rings with changeable chunks.

The Petite ring is the perfect solution for all of you that, just like me, aren't really a fan of bracelets wider than 2 cm, but like to adjust your jewelry to your current mood or style. Just pick a chunk and ta-daa! The sterling silver rings are handmade in Peru.

NOOSA-Amsterdam staat gekend voor zijn armbanden met verwisselbare chunks. Best leuk, toch? Het accessoire-merk maakte onlangs een upgrade: ringen met verwisselbare chunks.

De Petite ring is de perfecte oplossing voor iedereen die, net als ik, niet echt een fan is van armbanden die breder zijn dan 2 cm, maar ervan houden om hun juwelen aan te passen aan hun huidige stemming of stijl. Kies gewoon een chunk en ta-daa! De sterling zilveren ringen worden handgemaakt in Peru.

OUTFIT⎪CASUAL HAT

People tell me I have the kind of face that looks great with a hat, but I never wore one because I thought it would look ridiculous. Then I saw American Horror Story Coven and those girls just looked great with their hats! So I needed one too now. Unfortunately, I have a very small head - seriously, I have a 52 which is just above children's size. And even more unfortunate, nobody sells that size, but I really wanted my hat. Luckily for me, this hat fits about right, I guess nobody tried it on before I bought it. And now I'm in love with it and I'll never take it off.

Mensen zeggen vaak dat ik een gezicht heb waar hoeden goed bij staan, maar ik droeg er nooit omdat ik vond dat het belachelijk zou staan. Toen zag ik American Horror Story Coven en die meisjes zagen er echt geweldig uit met hun hoeden! Dus had ik ook eentje nodig. Helaas heb ik een heel klein hoofd - ik heb een maatje 52, wat net boven de kindermaat is. Nog meer pech want niemand verkoopt die hoed, maar ik wou echt een hoed. Gelukkig zit deze hoed ongeveer goed, ik vermoed dat niemand hem gepast heeft voor ik hem kocht. En nu ben ik stiekem een beetje verliefd en doe ik hem nooit meer af.

New Look presented its Autumn/Winter 2014 collection and it was love at first sight. This year's rainy season is all about flower power and the cold season is all about pink and all sorts of tartan. The brand mixed classic items with tough details. So combine your inner rebel with your outer businesswoman and kick some ass!
New Look presenteerde zijn Herfst/Winter 2014 collectie en het was liefde op het eerste gezicht. Het regenseizoen is op en top flower power en het koude seizoen draait om roze en ruitjes in alle soorten en maten. Het merk mixte klassieke items met stoere details. Dus combineer je innerlijke rebel met je uiterlijke zakenvrouw en kick some ass!

OPENING & OTHER STORIES ANTWERPEN

& Other Stories finally arrived in Belgium! The store opens its doors today for everyone, but I was part of the lucky ones that got a look before the real opening.

& Other Stories is huge! I just kept on finding more rooms with clothes and I almost couldn't find my way back down when we went to the first floor. Thank god I wasn't alone.
Thursday evening was filled with drinks - mini bottles of champagne, holla -, snacks by Elle Cuisine and, more importantly, clothes and accessories. I couldn't help myself and spent some money, but I managed to save some of it.
& Other Stories eindelijk neergestreken in België! De winkel opent vandaag zijn deuren voor iedereen, maar ik hoorde bij de gelukkigen die voor de opening al een blik konden werpen.

& Other Stories is gigantisch! Ik bleef maar nieuwe ruimtes met kleren vinden en ik kon bijna de weg naar beneden niet meer vinden toen we op de eerste verdieping waren. Gelukkig was ik niet alleen.
Donderdagavond was een avond vol drank - kleine champagneflesjes, holla -, hapjes van Elle Cuisine en, belangrijker, kleren en accessoires. Ik kon het niet laten en gaf wat geld uit, maar het is mij gelukt om niet alles uit te geven.
